Who are the Marching Knights

The Cabell Midland High School Band, under the direction of Tim James, is comprised of 150 students with varying levels of musicianship abilities.  Multiple instructors work hands-on with the students from early spring throughout the summer to help them learn and perfect their playing abilities.  Many of our members begin taking private lessons upon joining to further enhance their skills and abilities.

The band’s history dates back to 1994 when the Cabell County Board of Education merged two area high schools to form the consolidated Cabell Midland High School.  The consolidation increased the pool of students and membership has grown exponentially following the increased success and popularity of our program.  In the last 7 years under the direction of Tim James, the band has added varying and more difficult general effects to our marching competitions that have since begun to set the bar in our region.  Our director and staff are always looking for new ways to make our program more innovative and creative in order to increase crowd entertainment as well as difficulty level in performances.  Cabell Midland High School Band is consistently growing, changing, and accepting new challenges.
